Quiet weekends.

You know that feeling, when your Saturday is coming to a close, and your stomach drops a little at the thought of another crazy week? And then you remember that tomorrow is Sunday. And that your Sunday is free!*

That. I’m thankful for that. For an bonus break, briefly forgotten. For all the opportunities a day holds, and the potential I see in the emptiness on a calendar. For the chance to reconnect, to catch our breaths, to vacillate that much closer to equilibrium. I’m thankful that we have the luxury of weekends, I know many don’t. I’m thankful ours generally include two days, I know that’s not the case for many families. I’m thankful we lead such a full life that “too much, too many, too often” is something we can label a challenge.

I’m thankful for the quiet, when it comes. And I’m thankful for the hope it will come again.

This post is part of a month-long series detailing 25 Things I’m Thankful For.

*I’ve found parenthood removed much of our freedom and any that remained went out the door the day we signed our mortgage papers. With two kids, 2,500 square feet, schoolwork and a start-up on our shoulders “free” is very much a relative term.
